Storytelling Festival of the Mustakis Foundation

  • Mustakis Foundation, Puma 1180, Recoleta
  • Saturday 26 November from 9:00 to 14:00
  • Free.

After a first instance in online format in August this year, the face-to-face version of the Territorios Lectores Festival, the annual festival of the Storytelling program of the Mustakis Foundation, will take place.

The festival, free and open to the public, will have creative spaces and exploration for the family through a playroom, a library and a children’s book fair, origami workshops, traditional Chilean games, storytelling sessions and many other surprises throughout the day , which will not require prior registration.

There will instead be other experiences, both for early childhood (0-3 years) and for childhood (+ 3 years), which have the purpose of activating the senses, reading, writing, speaking and listening through playful activities, which will be led by facilitators and artists with a long history in arts education, animation and reading mediation. Registration for these experiences will be open at the reception of the festival from 9:00.

In the large shed, located in the center of the enclosure, there will be stations and in each of them there will be activities to explore and enjoy as a family. Some moments will be to be carried out independently, while in others they will have the presence of mediators. The locations will be as follows: market, pergola, fire brigade, park, mountain and volcano.

In addition, there will be a cafeteria and a restaurant and there will be a section with microwaves and changing tables specially set up to welcome families with babies.

All activities focus on learning by doing and collaborative learning, while the skills that are sought to develop in the experiences are the development of curiosity, empathy, communication and self-awareness.
In a context of celebration of the 25-year history of the Mustakis Foundation, the second instance of the “Festival Territorios Lectores” is held, which has the common spaces that we find in the neighborhoods as a source of inspiration and curation.

Alejandra Hurtado, director of the Storytelling program of the Mustakis Foundation, explains that the aim is to learn reading experiences that appeal, from different territories, to form a reading community. “This second part of the 2022 festival is dedicated in particular to the family. In our November party we aim to show girls, boys and young people the concept of territories through various activities that are divided into experiences for early childhood and from three years onwards. We want to invite you to participate in this great family celebration”.

For the occasion, the doors of the Mustakis Foundation will open to offer examples of good practices, creative, surprising and curious spaces to discover and experiment with the family in the context of training 21st century readers.
