With a wide range of activities, the Ministry of Culture commemorates the International Human Rights Day

Every year on December 10, people from all over the world gather to commemorate International Human Rights Day. The United Nations Organization established this date, in 1948, to promote the universality of these rights and the declaration affirms the inherent dignity and worth of all people and the right not to be discriminated against, or subjected to slavery, or to torture, nor to arbitrary detention, among other things.

For this reason, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, through the Culture, Memory and Human Rights Unit, the Rosso Cultura program and several Regional Seremis delle Culture, supports and organizes a large list of activities that invite reflection on human rights human rights and act in defense of these rights.

“This commemoration allows us to reflect on the importance of fundamental rights and to reaffirm our Government’s commitment to democratic principles and the absolute defense of human rights. Today and throughout our history, individuals and groups have taken courageous action to defend human rights, often at great cost. Most of the activities we are announcing today are promoted by remembrance and human rights groups and have the support of our Ministry,” said Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Julieta Brodsky Hernández.
