“Entertaining Dance”, first work by Casandra Campos, is selected at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival in France

“Entertaining Dance”, Casandra Campos’ first work, was selected at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival in France.

The film tells the story of Ana, a woman who returns to Laguna Verde to give dance lessons to the community. There she meets people from her past, such as Karina, her former best friend, who reveals the passage of time, differences and her loneliness. It all speaks to distance and the decisions women make at a certain age about love.

The story was directed by Casandra Campos (45 years old), who looks back on a long career as continuer of national series and feature films such as “Neruda” (2016), “Death will come and will have your eyes” (2019), ” Inés del Alma Mía” (2020), “Blanquita” (2021) and “Take me to heaven” (2022) among others. She also wrote “Allende, the last day of the president” (2013), together with Adrián Caetano and Nora Matizeli.

“I am enthusiastic and together with the team it makes us very happy to be selected in a festival of an exceptional category like Clermont-Ferrand. I am deeply moved because it was a short film made with the self-management and collaboration of the talent of great professionals and friends”, comments the director.

The Clermont-Ferrand International Festival in France is a must for producers, distributors, broadcasters and sellers from all over the world. With great worldwide prestige, this festival, born in 1979, is an event committed to the diversity of themes and a great opportunity for emerging filmmakers. It is known as the “Cannes” of short films.

The cast of “Baile Entretenido” consists of Tiare Pino (who is also co-writer), Daniela Pino, Sergio Díaz and the famous national actor Gastón Salgado, who plays “Tropi”. The short film is the directorial debut of Casandra Campos.

“It’s something I’ve been trying for a long time. I have been dedicated to the business of sequels of films and series for many years. This profession leads you to be a student and analyst of the script in detail and to be next to the directors, to see and participate in the staging the story up close.Having so many experiences in filming, reading and methods helped me and generated the drive and desire to tell stories.Seeing various directors and directors build their stories made me want to to find my own,” acknowledges Campos.

The short film premiered this year at the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival in Colombia and won the best film award at the La Serena International Film Festival, the award for cinematographer in the short film competition of the Festival de Cinema of Women and Diversity of Valparaíso and for Best Performance at the Rengo Film Festival. “Entertaining Dance” will be performed in 8 shows within the International Competition of the Clermont Ferrand Festival, two of which are special shows on Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February.
