“Without real limit”: Future Congress 2023, the most important scientific dissemination event in the country, is underway

More than 100 international and national exhibitors arrive at the twelfth version of Future Congress 2023, the scientific event will take place between Monday 16 and Friday 20 January. For the first time since its creation, the science dissemination event will be held in person in all regions of the country.

In this version, the motto is “No real limit” and will address topics such as the metaverse, artificial intelligence, the environment, urban planning, civil participation, among others. The event will be held at the Teatro Oriente, located in Pedro de Valdivia #99 and is divided into 20 thematic areas.

“This is a wonderful initiative to be able to generate public policies that unite us in a world that is polarized and that seems to have no hope, we believe that new futures can be built despite all the threats that exist, we believe that we can build opportunities and have a better humanity,” said Guido Girardi, executive vice president of the Encuentros del Futuro Foundation.

The event will kick off with a special guest, director and pioneer of New German Cinema, Warner Herzog, on Monday 16 at 10:30 in the “Future of Truth” block.

Among this year’s keynote speakers are computer scientist and philosopher Yuk Hui, marine biologist Sylvia Earle, founder of modern linguistics Noam Chomsky, academic bioethicist Jodi Halpern, among other guests.

Tickets are free and can be purchased on the event website along with each day’s programme.

“This is the most important event that takes place in January and which constitutes a space for meeting and dialogue between the world of science and academia with the world of politics”, said Álvaro Elizalde, president of the Senate.

Future Congress in the regions

This 2023, Future Congress is back face to face after two years and also for the first time the event will be held in the 16 regions of the country. The international exhibitors will travel throughout Chile, where together with national experts they will address issues relevant to local communities based on their problems.

“This year, for the first time, the Congress of the Future will have face-to-face activities in the regions of Chile and, moreover, we believe that what has been the space for dialogue that allows us not only to anticipate the future but also the participation should be strengthened upon its construction,” said Elizalde.

Some of these topics are sustainability, new ways of producing energy, artificial intelligence and climate change.
